Reply to Just have a think Patroen You tube Petrochemicals

You present these programes so consiscly and clear that all politians should watch to keep informed and abreast of environmental and ecological problems,. well done.

Can i say as you suggest that Land Use and inded all Natural assets  should be at the core of our economic model.

Capitalism per se is not the problem but misuse  and overuse are, its the regulatory regime we all work within that determines the outcomes we get, as at present we can do almost anything destroy use consume without a thought as to the eco damage that is occuring all along the chains from resource to final consumption.

we are trying to reduce by use of circular economic policy which does help improve the situation by use less in the first place butwhat is really missing and indeed made worse is the linkage between money and all Natural resources.

Money has developed to replace and make easier the exchnage of goods and services, and as a virtual store of potential energy to be releasd at any time to purchase ready made goods and services.

Money was until recently connected directly to gold and therfore limited its availablity and has since become freely available with no relation to its damagingeffects its use is doing.

To me we need to Scrap all existing taxes and replace with a single Natural Resource Tax collected at source and based on the Eco Damage caused by their use and consumption plus UBI and a wealth tax

This model has not been explored but the idea of some form of economic change has been mooted several times, as many economists see the need for change but not in this direction..

This form of change is self regulatory as the more products sold with eco damaging outcomes the higher the price. and this would be self defeating in a competitive free market economy which I believe we need to maintain to help maintain the ideas pool that we must have to overcome future problems.

Techincal solutions will help a lot but without guidance it fails as we have see by our present predicament.

Thank you , i hope you can find a way to put this in a clear format to promote in future programes.
